ATLANTA, Ga., Aug. 4, 2025 -- Next Steward Partners ("Next Steward"), a private equity independent sponsor firm focused on partnering with founder-led and family-owned businesses, is excited to pursue investment opportunities in the Waste & Environmental Services industry.

Over the past several months, our team has spent considerable time looking at essential services-based industries, and we identified the broader Waste and Environmental Services industry as a serious area of interest.

Driven by essential spending, regulatory tailwinds, and market fragmentation, the broader industry offers many attractive sectors, including Solid Waste Management & Recycling; Non-Hazardous Waste Management & Recycling; Industrial, Hazardous, and Specialty Waste; Water & Wastewater Treatment; and Environmental Testing, Consulting, and Engineering Services.

"Supported by a variety of exciting and long-term megatrends, the firm views the broader industry to build partnerships and deploy capital", said Nicholas Browner, Managing Partner. Initially, the firm will focus on the following three industries that have similar long-term trends, including:

Solid Waste Management & Recycling, Non-Hazardous Waste Management & Recycling, and Industrial, Hazardous, and Specialty Waste, which are all driven by:

  • Recession and non-discretionary spending are resistant

  • Driven by food & beverage consumption (Solid Waste, Non-Hazard Waste)

  • Driven by construction, manufacturing, and infrastructure spending (Industrial Waste)

  • Diverse revenue streams driven by adjacencies and, in some cases, vertical integration

  • Long-term contracts, recurring and re-occurring revenue, and repeat business

  • Sustained demand for a skilled on-site and field-based labor force, and

  • Continued industry consolidation and technology-driven initiatives.

"The firm's experience partnering with and investing in companies with skilled field-based labor forces and mission-critical services will serve the right partner well", said Nicholas Browner. "When partnered with the right company, together, we will accelerate growth, expand the company's service offerings, and ensure customers continue to receive the highest standard of services."

Below are a few direct areas of interest for the firm:

  • Solid Waste Management & Recycling (Residential & Commercial, Equipment Rental)

  • Liquid Non-Hazardous Waste (Septic, Sewer, Drain, and Grease Traps Cleaning)

  • Hazardous Waste (Industrial Cleaning, Emergency Response, and Specialty Services)

Next Steward has formed and is working alongside a Board of Advisors, who are experienced operators with track records in all three sub-sectors.

Lastly, if you're a founder, business owner, or management team, Next Steward is interested in talking to you and would love to be introduced formally to your business. The firm is particularly interested in businesses with strong local and regional reputations and a commitment to long-term community, business, and civic relationships.
